The other mechs launch a massive attack that breaches the Siege Cathedral's shields. The one projectile to make it through is promptly destroyed by a giant hand swinging out from the center, and crushing it. The Cathedral, itself, is a mech.
In response to this development of Gearworks' cathedral, some of the Tacticians controlling the cloaked Kathy chatter enthusiastically.
"Oh, good! For but a moment I thought
this would be a boring fight."
"As did I. But I now doubt we'll be able to
get a Kriegsman inside."
"Come what may, brother. If we are not able to
disrupt his forces from within, we may do so out here."
"Did you have
something in mind?"
"I was thinking of altering the landing zone of the
next drop pod; letting them touch down in a.. less familiar dimension."
"Ah, straight to R&D, then? Good thing they've all but mastered
electromagnetic interference. Using our equivalent of high-pitched whistling,
nonetheless! Before that demonstration, I had no idea our vocal cords could
even do that!"
"An unceasing stream of schematics flow through the
mind. The results should be interesting.. if they're successful. Not that I
doubt them, but the enemy's drones may rely on certain fail-safes."
"No, I'm fairly certain that self-destruction was manual, and downed
receivers hear no signals."
Two drop pods containing Gearots, Gearworks's ground forces, are deployed and touch down. The other mechs promptly begin to attack them.
"That troop will be obliterated if we don't work fast!
Kathy squad! All
available R&D drones are ready and waiting!
Get those Gearots to
Darquegarden, and fast!"
Seizing the moment, the Tacticians let loose a barrage of primed Void Bombs!
They land near the drop pods and will detonate soon, sure to sweep up anything
that remains.
